final project for my advanced photography class: a book of tea stained contact prints from my 1925 box camera.

about the name

"a pure open awareness" comes from the existential idea that existence precedes essence. we come into being and then we decide who we are. sartre says that human beings are nothing more than a pure open awareness. all of the features we affix to ourselves are not permanent--we have to hold them there. this means that at every moment we have the ability to completely change who we are or stay the same. the point is: everything about you is completely up to you at every moment. this blog is about the features i choose to affix to myself everyday.
